Garage Floor Coating FAQs

They are installed in liquid form, dry flexible and can withstand heavy traffic, oils, chemicals, Uv rays and other common elements that would destroy other coating systems.

Due to their longevity and strength they are commonly used in residential and commercial spaces such as garages, exteriors, and commercial areas. 

Epoxy coatings have their place in the floor coating industry, they are versatile and necessary for some desired finishes. However, we do not recommend epoxy for garages, exteriors or high demand commercial applications.

As with any professionally installed coating system the substrate will need to be clean, and free of all contaminants before coatings can be applied.

With concrete we achieve this by mechanically grinding or shot blasting the surface until a proper surface profile is achieved. This is known as CSP or concrete surface profile.

Even on new concrete It is essential to concrete coatings that the creme or laitance be removed mechanically to ensure proper adhesion. All cracks and surface pits must be prepped and corrected with a compatible crack filler or patching compound.

Any inferior or non bonding patching methods will result in failure of the coating system and re-exposure of the crack/pit. 

Polyaspartic floor coating systems are designed to look their best for a very long time. 

They should only require simple cleanings with any mild soap, a water hose and a foam squeegee. For Heavily soiled areas a soft bristle brush or push broom can be used for light scrubbing. Any oils or corrosive liquids should be wiped up quickly to prevent any discoloration. 

The drying and cure time for polyaspartic coatings depend on some conditions such as temperature, humidity and manufacture. You should expect dry to touch times between 4 and 8 hours with a return to service in as little as 24-36 hours.

Generally speaking a normal basement flooring job takes between 2 and 3 days.

Epoxy floor coatings are made for the long haul, even in harsh environments. In a normal residential basement setting without underlying factors or physical abuse a professionally installed epoxy floor will last 20 years or more. 

Yes, epoxy coatings are safe for your family and pets once properly installed and cured. They are non-toxic, low VOC, and do not emit harmful fumes or odors. They also add a smooth antibacterial surface that can be cleaned easily. 

Epoxy floor coating systems are designed to look their best for a very long time. 

We suggest light sweeping and mopping with a damp or dry microfiber mop to keep them looking their best.
